Dealing with Separation Anxiety on a budget

Here are a few suggestions for helping a dog with separation anxiety on a budget:

Desensitisation training -

Start by leaving your dog alone for just a few seconds at a time, then slowly increase the duration.

Exercise beforehand -

Make sure they get adequate physical and mental exercise before being left alone. A tired, enriched dog is more likely to settle.

Create a safe space -

Use a crate (only after proper crate training) or keep them to a dog-proofed room or dog proof an area of your house

Ask for help from friends/family -

See if anyone can come mid-day to let them out and provide companionship.

Consult your vet -

They may prescribe anti-anxiety medication for unavoidable absences.

The key is slowly acclimating them to alone time

With time and consistency, separation anxiety can improve. Let me know if you have any other questions!
