SEPARATION ANXIETY

GAIN BACK YOUR FREEDOM & HAVE A HAPPY SETTLED DOG

Separation Anxiety is a stressful condition for both you and your dog causing upheaval and turmoil. It can lead to barking, whining and howling, toileting indoors, damage to your house and can also result in your dog injuring themselves in an attempt to escape.

There's also the lack of spontaneity for you too. You have to plan everything to a tee, even when popping to the shop or going to the gym. It's simple things that other people and dog owners take for granted.

If this sounds like you & your dog then you've come to the right place.

When you made the decision to add a new dog to your family, I bet you weren’t expecting that you’d never be able to leave the house again?

It probably took a while before you started to really understand that … this is not “normal” dog behavior. This is something more.

You’re maybe at the point where you’ve tried just about EVERYTHING to help ease your dog’s Separation Anxiety, distress and save damage to your house:

  • Essential oils

  • Crate training

  • Pheromones

  • Letting them bark it out

  • Bark collars

  • A thunder vest

  • Calming tablets

But no matter how much you research or what “miracle cure” you find, nothing keeps your pup from watching you every time you pick up your keys or following you to the door every time you leave the room.

Separation anxiety is thought to affect one in every 3 to 5 dogs, and you did absolutely nothing to cause it.

I repeat,
you did not cause your dog’s separation anxiety!

Separation anxiety isn’t about “bad behaviour.” It’s an emotional problem, based on your dog’s very real and truly morbid fear of being alone. A phobia, much like being afraid of heights or spiders.

Unless we recognise this, our methods will fail. We need to change how a dog feels about being left in order to change the home-alone behaviour.

It’s why tactics like crate training, barking it out, and weighted vests don’t work. They address the symptoms, but do nothing to change the emotion that drives the behaviour.

That’s why we end up wasting so much time, money, and energy on things that have no hope of working.

So what does work?

Gradual exposure : It’s the same method we use to treat human fears.

I can help you learn how to ease your dog's separation anxiety in the kindest, most ethical and effective way possible.

Doing this work won’t be easy. But it is worth it.

Every dog is different, and each one will have a different level of success with this method. While I can’t guarantee with 100% certainty that your dog will completely get over their Separation Anxiety, I believe that this method and approach are your best chance to gaining both a much more content dog and your freedom.

What's involved?

We work using tiny steps where we gradually expose your dog to the thing they fear: being alone. We ensure your dog does not show any fear during this too.

Working remotely/online means that everything is kept "normal" for your dog. If I were to come to your house, then your dog more than likely wouldn't exhibit the same behaviour you're experiencing when you leave them. They need to be able to cope with you leaving, not me!

I also do not need to see your dog in distress. I aim to assess what your dog can cope with now in the comfort of their own home.
